My name is Ward Ackerman and I am a Filmmaker, Musician, Graphic Designer, and Illustrator. I completed a 2 year program in Interactive Digital Design at the Grande Prairie Regional College (GPRC) and have recently finished a 4 year Bachelors of New Media program at the University of Lethbridge (U of L).
My love of film began with me creating my own short films on a MiniDV camera I got in 2004. Once in College I began to take a few film class electives, and once at the U of L began to take a much larger interest in the film making process.
I have always taken an interest in art and design. At a young age I was interested in cartooning and moved into design creating logos and designs for videogame modifications. Once I realized I wanted to make a career of the arts and media I enrolled at the GPRC to further my education in Design. There I learned design fundamentals, as well traditional and digital techniques from multiple levels of drawing classes.
Beginning fall of 2008 I began to take an interesting in audio mixing and recording. This resulted as an offshoot of filmmaking as my productions needed better audio mixing, as well as custom scores. Coupled with my hobby of writing and composing my own songs I soon began to learn music fundamentals, supplemented by introduction to music theory class, as well digital audio class.
